When a laptop won’t turn on even while charging, the cause is almost always one of a handful of things — most fixable without buying new hardware.
- A completely drained battery sometimes needs several minutes of charging before the system will power on, even though the charging light is active
- Try a different outlet — some outlets tied to switched circuits can appear ‘dead’ unexpectedly
- If the charging LED doesn’t illuminate at all, the charger itself is the more likely fault than the laptop
Quick check
Isolate the variable: swap the cable, then the outlet, then the charger itself, one at a time, before concluding the device is at fault.
