When a laptop won’t turn on even while charging, the cause is almost always one of a handful of things — most fixable without buying new hardware.

  1. A completely drained battery sometimes needs several minutes of charging before the system will power on, even though the charging light is active
  2. Try a different outlet — some outlets tied to switched circuits can appear ‘dead’ unexpectedly
  3. If the charging LED doesn’t illuminate at all, the charger itself is the more likely fault than the laptop
Quick check

Isolate the variable: swap the cable, then the outlet, then the charger itself, one at a time, before concluding the device is at fault.
