When a EV charger won’t start a session, the cause is almost always one of a handful of things — most fixable without buying new hardware.
- Confirm the charging cable is fully latched at both the vehicle and station
- Check the station’s app or display for a fault code before assuming the vehicle is at fault
- Some vehicles need to be unlocked or in a specific gear/park state to accept a charge
If none of these resolve it, the fault is more likely in the device’s charging circuitry or battery health than in the charger itself — especially if the same charger works fine on a different device.
Before replacing any hardware, test with a different cable and a different outlet — this isolates roughly 80% of charging complaints to a single faulty component.
